Genya Petrosyan

Genya Petrosyan is the co-founder and the director of the Law Development and Protection Foundation.

She is an attorney specialized in civic and administrative cases. She has submitted a number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia. She studied Law at Yerevan State University from 1998-2002 and got a Bachelor's Degree in Law. Afterwards, in 2004 she received her Master's degree both from Yerevan State University and American University of Armenia. She worked in the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia for many years holding various positions: Genya Petrosyan was the Deputy Human Rights Defender from 2012-2014 and the First Deputy Defender from 2014-2015. After leaving this position, she continued her professional career in the civil society sector, particularly in the “Europe in Law Association” NGO. As a lawyer, she participated in the projects on overseeing the Constitutional Referendum of 2015, as well as the project “Public Oversight over Parliamentary Elections 2017”.  Since December 2018, Genya Petrosyan has been a member of the legal team of “Eyewitness” Initiative, coordinating the work of lawyers. She is a practicing lawyer, a co-author of several manuals and studies.

Arusyak Julhakyan

Arusyak Julhakyan is a co-founder of the Law Development and Protection Foundation. She received her first education in the field of public administration graduating from the Social-Political Subjects and General Economics Faculty of the State Engineering University of Armenia in 2002. She received Master's degree in Public Administration from the same University in 2005. Arusyak graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Warsaw University (Poland,) with Human Rights specialization in 2010. She was a lecturer of Law at the State Engineering University of Armenia  and a lecturer of Constitutional Law and Human Rights at University of Science of Economics and Law (USEL) respectively from 2005-2013, 2007- 2009 . 2011- 2014 - Program assistant and later legal expert at the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression.

From 2014 - 2018  Arusyak worked at the “Europe in Law Association” NGO and was engaged in a number of important projects including projects on overseeing the Constitutional referendum of 2015, as well as the
project “Public Oversight over Parliamentary Elections 2017 From September 23, 2018 to January 11, 2019  Arusyak was a Yerevan City Council Member (“My Step” alliance of parties), Head of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs of the Yerevan City Council. In December 9, 2018 and in June 20, 2021, she was elected member of the National Assembly respectively from the national electoral list of the “My Step” alliance of parties and “Civil Contract” Party.

Davit Gyurjyan

Davit Gyurjyan is a co-founder of the Law Development and Protection Foundation. He is an attorney specialized in criminal, administrative and civil cases. David has submitted a number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia. He studied Law at Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) State University from 2007-2011 and received a Bachelor's degree. He continued Master's degree prgram education at the same university from 2014-2016. From 2015 - 2018  he worked as a lawyer at the “Europe in Law Association” NGO and was engaged in a number of important projects in the field of Human Rights. Apart from that, he used to run the cases of the NGO’s beneficiaries. In 2015, Davit participated in the observation mission aimed at overseeing the Constitutional Referendum. He delivered trainings to over 100 observers and media representatives on electoral and referendum law and procedure of Armenia, as well as represented their complaints on violations of their “public watchdog” rights to referendum commissions at three levels and the RA Administrative court.  From 2017-2018 he was the lawyer of the project “Public Oversight over Parliamentary Elections 2017”. Since 2018, Davit has been participating in the legal activities of the “Eyewitness” observation mission.   He is a co-author of the manual “Know Your Rights: Manual for Observers” as well as other legal studies. David participates in the legal research programs of the LDPF in the capacity of expert and project coordinator.

As a representative of the LDPF, David was involved in the RA Investigative Committee's public monitoring group examining criminal cases of deaths during military service. He is also a member of the monitoring work group created by the RA Prime Minister Decision aimed at contributing to the proper investigation of the criminal cases concerning deaths recorded during military service.
 

Dianna Atoyan

Dianna Atoyan is a lawyer and a co-founder of the Law Development and Protection Foundation. She studied International Relations at Yerevan State University from 2009-2013 and received a Bachelor’s Degree. In 2017, she also received a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. Afterwards, she studied at the School of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia and received an attorney license. In 2014 she started working for “Yegor System” LLC firstly as an intern, then as a lawyer.  She was  engaged in civil cases. She worked at “Europe in Law Association” NGO from 2014-2018. Dianna was a member of the legal team of the observation missions carried out in 2015 (Constitutional Referendum) and in 2017 (Parliamentary Elections).  Diana participated in the legal activities of the Eyewitness Initiative while overseeing the elections taken place on December 9, 2018.  She is a co-author of the manual “Know Your Rights: Manual for the Voters”. Since January 2019, she has been working at the National Assembly of Armenia as an assistant to MP.

Yeranuhi Tumanyants

Yeranuhi Tumanyants is a co-founder of the Law Development and Protection Foundation. She is a lawyer and attorney specialized in civil and administrative cases. She has submitted a number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of the RA. She studied Law at Moscow New Law Institute from 2002 to 2007. She received Master’s degree in Law from Yerevan “Manc” University in 2010. She defended Doctorate Thesis at Public Administration Academy of the RA in August 2019 and received PhD in Law in April 2019. She is an author of scientific articles, co-author of various manuals. She worked in the Human Rights Defender Office of the RA from 2006 to 2016 holding various positions, including the advisor to the Human Rights Defender and the Deputy Human Rights Defender. Yeranuhi was a member of the legal team of the project ““Public Oversight over Parliamentary Elections 2017”. She represented the rights of the representatives of the observation mission in courts. She was a member of the legal team of “Eyewitness” Initiative from 2018 up to September 2021. As an expert and a lawyer she was involved in the projects of the Law Development and Protection Foundation. On 30 September, 2021 Yeranuhi was appointed as a Deputy Minister of Justice of the RA.
